 There are 27-28 days in a lunar month and the moon spends approximately a day in each of these nakshatras. There are interesting mythology tales of the constellations being regarded as the Moon’s wives! 

Each nakshatra owns 13.2 degrees across the 12 zodiacs. This lunar ownership is further subdivided into 4 ‘pada’ or ’charan’ or quarters called ‘navamsa’  of 3.2 degrees based on attributes. Each zodiac sign has 9 padas which obviously further refines the astro reading to a whole new deep micro level. It is the very starting point of determining the planetary period or dashas one is undergoing, indepth planetary outcomes of a natal chart, the influence on character, in calculating auspicious muhurta, marriage compatibility, transit results,  and so much more.
